An insurance claim is the only
legal way to claim any benefit under an insurance policy.
Policyholders must complete and file an official claim form before
any monies can be paid out to a service provider in the case of a
medical claim, or a mechanic or a third party in the case of a motor
claim.
The Medical Policy specifies
that a claim must be filed with the Company within ninety days after
the date of the loss for which the claim is made. Failure to furnish
notice of proof of loss within the time limits required will not
invalidate or reduce any claim if it is shown that it was not
reasonably possible to give such notice or proof loss and that the
claim was filed as soon as it was reasonably possible.
The Motor Policy and other
non-life policies simply require that the policyholder should give
notice of a claim or potential claim “as soon as possible” with full
particulars.
